From the very first time I heard this song “Beneath you’re Beautiful” by Labrinth I fell in love with it. I love the lyrics, the music, and the artists voices together
The song is about a person trying to get to know another regardless of all the walls that person has put up over the years.
We all are guarded, and build up walls. Yes, some more than others, be it because we’re naturally distrusting, or because of past experiences, or fears. I’m not here to analyze that… I’ll concentrate on the positive message of the song. That there will be a person that will help you bring that wall down. That even if it’s hard for you they will try, until finally you allow them to climb that tower and let them in, and be surprised at how wonderful it was to let that person in your life.
Two of my friends just found out how amazing letting someone in is. They recently got engaged and are head over heels in love and excited to plan their lives together. Their joy is contagious. I could not be happier for them, and can see, once again, how true the line of Nat King Cole’s song (and one of my favorites) is, “the greatest thing you’ll ever learn, is to love and be loved in return”.
There’s always someone who will see, and appreciate, how beautiful you are.
